To bake means to cook a recipe in either a covered (or uncovered) pan or baking sheet in an Oven. My rule of thumb is not to place anything in the oven until at least 5 minutes after the preheat tone has gone off. You just got done cleaning the silver, again, and you are secretly wishing that there was a way that you could help prevent the tarnish from building up so bad while it is being stored.
For awhile now, my wife has been asking me to learn how to cook. I've been hesitant to do so because my wife is a wonderful cook and I know as much about cooking as Christopher Lowell does about the NFL. So in my mind I'd never had the need or desire to become the next Bobby Flay. But after some loving nagginng, errr encouragement from my wife, and almost burning down my kitchen trying to boil a pot of water, I decided it was time to learn how to do this cooking thing. After about of week of researching different recipe books online, I found the crown jewel, the mother of all online recipe books. It's called "America's Most Wanted Recipes". It was a weird feeling, because the only time I get excited about food is when there's a hot plate of something I love sitting in front of me. But as I read about this online recipe book, I was genuinely excited about the cool dishes I could start making. It hit on all MY criteria for a good recipe book. Best of all, and what really caught my attention was that it full of spectacular recipes from my favorite restaurants like PF Chang's, Chili's, Red Lobster, The Cheese Cake Factory and many more.

KITCHEN TIPS
1. For soft Dosas, add some boiled rice to white gram and rice, while grinding.
2. Put some neem and turmeric pieces or garlic flakes in the container where you store rice or grains, in order to keep away insects.
3. To adjust salt in curries add roasted rice powder.
4. If the curd is too sour, add 4 cups of water to it. After half an hour, remove the water collected on top.
5. When you cook dal add some refined oil or garlic. It will reduce gas trouble.
6. Keep rice flour and basin in a polythene cover in refrigerator when you want tem stored for a long time.
7. Add some vinegar in the boiling water before steaming potato.
8. For crispy dosas, add a teaspoon of tur dal gram) and some fenugreek seeds while soaking rice Add a pinch of corn flour to the jar of salt to prevent it from getting damp.
9. While chopping raw bananas and potatoes, put the pieces in a bowl of water to avoid it from turning black.
10. A bay leaf added to the flour container will keep the flour free from moisture.
11. To peel garlic flakes easily, wash and soak them in cold water for about an hour.
13. Green peas will retain their original colour, if you add a pinch of sugar while boiling.
14. Leafy vegetables will remain fresh longer, if wrapped in news papers when you are storing.
15. If you don't have any cream to add in the soup or gravy, add a mixture of butter and milk.
16. Apply some oil on the sides of the vessel in which you boil milk, in order to avoid it from overflowing.
17. After extracting butter from milk cream, add a little milk or curd to the residue and boil. You will get soft 'Paneer'.
18. For thick cream, cover the milk vessel with a thin muslin cloth and refrigerate over night. Barley powder will increase the taste of meat and vegetable curries.
19. You can make tasty chappathi by mixing equal proportion of wheat flour and barley.
20. While boiling eggs, put a hole with a pin on the rounded portion of the egg so that the shell won't break when boiling.
